The Left has been plundering universities
for about fifty years
(Part B)
The "left-wing backward crew" is responsible for violations of university asylum, for occupations, for acts of violence against professors and students, and for the destruction of public and private property. The left-wing parties are also responsible because they support or even endorse this intolerable situation. In addition, the right and the center-left are responsible because for years they did not enforce the laws. The silent majority of professors, students, and citizens also bears responsibility, because it watches what happens in the universities and does not react.
The participants in the "left-wing backward crew," individuals and small groups, are a small and insignificant minority. Yet this insignificant minority violates, debases, downgrades, and damages democracy. It is an enemy of democracy.
Of course, democracy is tolerant even of its enemies. But tolerance has limits. There is also a difference between tolerance and "support" for those with an egalitarian and totalitarian mentality. Democracy must be protected from those who seek to undermine it; it must enforce the law. Democracy means the application of laws and the functioning of institutions. And of course democracy must protect the majority from the tyranny of the minority.
One wonders what these fascist minorities will do when the majority rises up, or at least when it decides to participate in social and political life. They will be in trouble. They will tuck their tails between their legs; they will run and not get far.
Really, is there any democratic person who considers occupations and destruction to be democratic acts? Perhaps there are those who think that "slavery is freedom" and "war is peace." Undoubtedly, violence against persons, the occupation of public spaces, damage, and the destruction of property and symbols are condemnable acts. They are behaviors of regression, not progress; they are acts of barbarism, not civilization.
Full support is given to the professors and students who suffer violence because they dare to speak differently. The overwhelming majority of citizens sympathize with the victims of the "left-wing backward crew." And that is reassuring, because many citizens, although they do not actively participate in political life, strongly condemn violence. The overwhelming majority of citizens prefer democracy to totalitarianism, freedom to slavery.
Those who are interested in improving education and especially university studies (parties, professors, students, parents, citizens) should organize marches, demonstrations, and protests for mandatory class attendance, better teaching and research, more books, better cleanliness, and the application of meritocracy, etc. Really, why does the Left, which supposedly cares about education, not want security on university campuses? Can it explain why the best universities in the world have security?
In any case, countries that have good universities also have organization, discipline, and campus security. And rightly so, since knowledge requires discipline and effort. The Left needs to understand this, as it considers the "democratic five," the "degree," the right to be an "eternal student," the right to occupations, etc., to be rights. The Left also needs to realize, without hypocrisy, that university asylum was established for the free circulation of ideas and not for the free circulation of vandals and troublemakers.
But even if every kind of ugliness comes only from various far-left offshoots, the Left sometimes tolerates them and sometimes supports them. Proof enough: it does not want security on university campuses.
There are, of course, rectors and little professors who want chaos, which is why they oppose campus security. But there are also rectors and professors who want protection of university asylum, which is why they agree with the law on campus security.
It is time for university asylum to be restored. The time has come to put an end to lawlessness and impunity. The Left's reaction to the law on campus security proves the law's correctness, since the Left will stop plundering universities.
