The charitable association “the Friends of the Child” is organizing its successful annual multicultural bazaar for the 13th year. It will take place at HELEXPO Palace, in Marousi, on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 November. The multicultural character of the bazaar is what makes it special, thanks to the participation of more than 34 embassies. Embassy representatives take us on a journey through tastes and images to distant places and introduce us to music, customs and traditions from their countries. The stalls fill with ethnic objects and products, gifts, ornaments, books, toys, clothing and treats that we can buy at very low prices. Among the participating embassies are those of Egypt, Ethiopia, Brazil, France, Japan, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kenya, China, South Africa, Panama, Tunisia, Argentina, Morocco, Armenia, Turkey and others. On Sunday there will also be a raffle, with 400 gifts, in order to raise income for the association's purposes.
This year's goal of the association “the Friends of the Child” is to cover the annual expenses of the nursery school for children from poor families located in Metaxourgeio, which amount to 150,000 euros. The association's parallel work is to support the unmarried mother and to fund a new youth center and care facility for older children. In its 25 years of operation, the association has offered help to 550 families and 2,200 children from poor families, mainly single-parent families, as well as to children facing serious health problems and socioeconomic problems.
The bazaar will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and HELEXPO Palace is located at 39 Kifisias Avenue. For more information, visit www.filoitoupediou.gr
