The Benaki Museum is organizing a book bazaar at the Pireos Street Building, 138 Pireos Street, from Thursday April 4 through Sunday, April 7, 2013, during museum opening hours. A total of 230 book titles, publications of the Benaki Museum, will be offered with a 50%-70% discount on their sale price. This is the first time the museum is offering such a large number of titles at a discount. See the catalogue.
The themes of the publications range from Classical Greece, Byzantium and Folklore to Modern Greek painting, sculpture, architecture, photography and European Art.
For the two days of April 6 and 7, the museum has organized an educational program for children aged five and above, on the theme of life in old Athens. Children will have the opportunity to explore the rich material of two museum kits designed by the museum's educational programs department: Life in Old Athens and Photographing Old Athens, 1833-1933. Authentic objects, posters, photographs and sounds, in front of a real Athenian setting, bring to life the everyday world of old Athenians, their haunts, entertainment, occupations and games.
