Subliminal messages, considered by many the most dangerous invention after the atomic bomb, are essentially messages embedded in image or sound, transmitted during playback without being perceived by our consciousness.
With this technique, it is almost impossible for us to judge them and accept or reject them, and so they are recorded in our subconscious. In other words, it is a direct device for violating our freedom, reason and judgment, a kind of brainwashing without limit.
The pioneer and founder of the idea was E. W. Scripture, who in 1898 first described the basic principles of the technology of subliminal messages in his book titled “The New Psychology”. Nevertheless, the first recorded successful experiment was carried out by James Vicary in 1957.
James Vicary, using the tachistoscope device, projected for 1/3000 of a second the phrases “Drink Coca-Cola” and “Hungry? Eat Pop-Corn” during a film in New Jersey. After the experiment ended, he claimed that during the film sales of Coca-Cola and popcorn increased by 57.8% and 18.1% respectively.
Naturally, these results caused a storm of reactions and countless conspiracy stories claiming that governments use similar technologies to pass on their own subliminal messages.
Eventually Vicary's research was disputed and branded inaccurate, as were other similar experiments...
Nevertheless, several countries constitutionally banned the use of such messages after this experiment, among them America, Australia and the United Kingdom... There is no smoke without fire...
In 1973, Wilson Bryan Key, in his book “Subliminal Seduction”, claimed that various advertisements use subliminal messages without the public understanding anything. The publication of the book resulted in Canada also banning the use of subliminal messages.
In 1985, Dr. Joe Stuessy discovered after experiments that there are subliminal messages also in music, especially in Heavy Metal tracks, which carry messages to our subconscious using low frequencies. At that time it was discovered that if some songs are played backwards, certain phrases can be heard without our perceiving them when we listen to the song normally. Such reversal phenomena in very well-known songs of the era also appeared in our country. The best-known incident concerns Marinella's song “Ki ystera ki ystera”, which in reverse playback sounds as if it says “Satanas mazi”...
In 1988, a film came to disturb the waters and present everything we were afraid to think existed. In the well-known film “They Live”, the protagonist finds a box of sunglasses. But as soon as he puts on one pair, nothing is as he knew it. Watch the characteristic excerpt...

...Wherever he looks there are messages, artfully hidden behind advertisements, exotic signs and magazines... “Obey”... “Consume”... “Buy”... What impressed me was the skeletal face of the gentleman in the suit. Why is he the only one who looks like that? Has his personality perhaps been so altered in his effort to alter the people's thoughts himself?
Not many years have passed since the advertisement of a very well-known insurance company was withdrawn from Greece. In that advertisement, a little girl was shown running toward her mother, who was ready to hug her tightly. After analysis of the advertisement, it was discovered that there were very small and brief inserted frames with scenes of war, dead people and wounded people with deformed faces. The “Advertising Control Committee” ruled that the inserted frames created a feeling of insecurity and fear in the viewer, so that the viewer would feel the need to be insured by that particular insurance company, and thus the advertisement was withdrawn.
Today, when our brain collects information from various media, electronic and otherwise, it is very difficult, even impossible, to say that we do not receive subliminal messages. Such messages exist even in photographs on magazine or CD covers, in films, and even in cartoons. Below you will see a highly informative video with examples that will answer all our questions...

As you saw, subliminal messages have penetrated everywhere. They control our needs, our purchases, the way we think and even the way we react. I am sure it has happened to you to buy an object completely useless for your daily life only because it was so tempting in the advertisement that you could not resist the temptation. We are talking about an indirect violation of our freedom, reason and judgment on the altar of easy profit.
We would be terrified if the glasses from the film They Live existed in reality... But after so many years of life, we would truly see how many lies this society is built upon.
